For the Parkside Family Carnival tradition to continue for a 6th year, we need to have a new team of Parent Coordinators. If you would like to see the tradition continue and you are willing to help coordinate games, food, publicity or event day volunteers, please contact Jen Young at jencolin@msn.com or call text her at 206 234 6782. Congratulation Lego Explorers Going Overboard It was a very exciting day at the regional FLL Robotics Competition on December 3, 2011. Twenty-two teams competed in a “Food Factor Challenge”. Parkside sent two teams to the competition and both teams won in the following categories: Lego Explorers Going Overboard – Team 1 with won medals and a trophy for “Best Presentation.” Lego Explorers Going Overboard – Team 2 won medals and a trophy for “Best Mechanical Design.” Team 1 was one of five teams chosen to continue on to the State Competition in January!!! The Robotics teams were coached by volunteer parents, Liam an Aviation High School Student Mentor, and Ms. Sahm. Team members have been meeting twice a week since the beginning of September and some additional days as well. They researched and made a presentation to the judges and worked hard on programming the robot. These members and coaches put in a tremendous amount of time and worked so hard to complete their tasks on time. Congratulations Payton, JJ, Susu, Jared, Max, Liam, Mitchell, Evan, Tyler, Riley, Ellie, Calvin and Eric.
